I have been watching explore.org's bear webcams a lot. They bring me peace and also excitement. The beauty at Katmai National Park is amazing. It has been forever since I have been inspired to write any haiku at all. I just wrote three. Not my best effort, but I am so happy that I got to write any at all! The accompanying pictures are snaps taken from the explore.org webcams at Katmai. 

Purple mountain peaks
Draped over green lake forest
Abundant with peace

Peace of Winter

Covered in pure white
World slows and becomes quiet
Peace of winter's storm

Glistening

Ice covered branches
Glistening in winter's cold breath
Frozen fairyland

Snug

Snug and warm inside
Walls roof and insulation
Wrap me in comfort

Frozen Breath

Frosty frozen breath
Creating clouds of white
Always in the lead

Drip Drop

The drip drop music
Melting icicles rhythmic

Bundled Up

Bundled up can't move
Protection from winter's wrath
Childlike feeling

Winter Queen

Beautiful crystals
Winter queen's cold white jewels
Her landscape adorned

Fireflies

Ethereal fireflies
Floating on invisible
Fairy wing currents

Little One

Funny little dog
Rescued from unknown horrors
Snuggle safe with me

Waiting to Die

I'm waiting to die
Why can't I have my whole life

Trees

The other day I wrote a short essay on trees.
This set of Haikus was inspired by my essay.

Winter Tree

Tree pregnant with life
Sap coursing through her body
Preparing for birth.


Spring Tree

Tree bursting forth with
Tiny spring green buds of life
Delicate beauty.


Summer Tree

Tall majestic tree
Wearing her finest green leaves
Home for all creatures.


Autumn Tree

Wearing her colors
Proudly finishing her job
The tree sleeps again.
